Firefighters host open houses to talk prevention

Sirens sounded and a bonfire burned as families in Grenfell and Broadview celebrated Fire Prevention Week with their local firefighters. The fire hall open houses, held Wednesday and Thursday evening, gave families the opportunity to enjoy supper and participate in fire prevention education, truck rides, water hose games, and more. “The open house brings awareness to the community about what we do and how we do it,” explained Broadview Fire Chief Brent Bagshaw. “Public awareness is key in fire prevention.” Fire Prevention Week was recognized nationwide from Oct. 9 to 15.
